About Yang Recycling
A proudly Australian-owned recycler, buying metal and taking back paper, cardboard and plastic across NSW
We started as a single yard serving local manufacturers and grew by doing the unglamorous things consistently: weighing accurately, showing up on the day we said we would, and telling customers the truth about what their material was worth.
Today we buy and process ferrous and non-ferrous scrap from households, tradies, manufacturers, demolition contractors, councils and other recyclers, and we run commercial paper, cardboard and plastic recycling for hundreds of business sites. It is deliberately one business rather than two, because most customers eventually need both and nobody enjoys managing three contractors.
It’s not just about managing waste. It’s about fostering sustainable practices that benefit our community and the environment for generations to come.
- over450,000 tonnesof material recovered each year

Our purpose
It's only truly recycled once it's been made into something new
Material that gets collected, sorted and then stockpiled indefinitely has not been recycled. It has been moved. The only outcome that counts is the one where a tonne of steel becomes new steel, a tonne of cardboard becomes new packaging, and a tonne of film becomes new film.
That's why we invest in grading and processing rather than just logistics. Clean, correctly graded material has a buyer at a real price. Contaminated mixed material has a disposal cost, and pretending otherwise just delays the landfill.

Our process
From your dock to a mill, in four steps
Collect
Bins, cages and containers placed where the material is generated, collected by our own fleet on a schedule built around your operation.
Weigh and grade
Every load crosses a calibrated weighbridge and is graded in the open. A certificate is issued at the bridge and stored against your account.
Process
Shearing, baling, separation and size reduction to turn mixed incoming material into consistent, saleable grades that a mill will accept.
Return to market
Sold into domestic and export remanufacturing markets, with tonnage and diversion reporting fed back to you monthly.
What you can hold us to
How we work
Grading in the open
Calibrated equipment, a docket for every load, and grading done in the open with you present. If a grade is ever unclear, we'll show you why rather than asking you to take it on faith.
Our own trucks
We run our own fleet rather than brokering it out, because a schedule is only as reliable as the trucks behind it. A missed collection is our problem to fix, not yours to chase.
Telling you when it is not worth it
Not every stream justifies separation and not every site needs a baler. Recommending one that doesn't is the fastest way to lose a customer who was going to stay for a decade.
Where the material ends up
Collecting material isn't recycling it. We're only satisfied when a load has been graded, processed and sold into a market that turns it back into something new.
Acknowledgement of Country
Yang Recycling acknowledges the First Nations people of the lands where we live and work. We recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture. We pay our respects to their Elders, past and present.

Book a site walk
We'll go through what your site generates, stream by stream, and put a number on the bits that are costing you.
